Jennie came to Oxford from Devon to train as a State Registered Nurse. After a year she changed direction and in 1961 she started her career with the Oxford Mail and Times Group of Newspapers (Westminster Press). While there, she acquired the general skills of layout, artwork and design. This was followed by several years of fashion drawing for a London company while working from home with a young family.

From 1978 until leaving for the States there was a happy time in the Agricultural world, attending agricultural shows as Publicity Manager for Challow Products, then as Account Executive for Farmers Weekly visiting livestock markets and calling on auctioneers in London and around England.

She lived and worked in the USA from 1983 to 1987, initially on a Wisconsin monthly journal where she was responsible for decisions on promotions, layout and design and latterly on a health orientated newspaper where she furthered her interest in pen and ink illustrations. In her spare time, she painted in oils and watercolours.

From 1991 to 2005 Jennie managed the private practice of a Consultant Surgeon in Oxford. For the last nine years this was for a young Plastic Surgeon specialising in hand reconstruction.

From 2000 to 2014 she spent all her spare time in Chênehutte beside the Loire, where with her English friends spent many summers gardening, shopping and exploring the châteaux of the Loire Valley; and her French neighbours encouraged her painting and love of cooking. After 14 years she and her husband Mike sold their house in France and she now works from her home in a village just outside Oxford
